Kitchen electrical installation covers the sockets, appliance circuits, cooker supply and lighting a new kitchen needs. We wire kitchens across Manchester, working alongside your fitter, with free quotes.

List every appliance you'll use and where it will go, from the fridge freezer and dishwasher to the kettle and coffee machine. Worktop sockets, appliance sockets behind units and their isolation switches all need planning before the kitchen units are fitted.
Good kitchen lighting combines ceiling lights with task lighting under the wall cupboards, and sometimes plinth or pendant lights over an island. Planning the switching early means you can control each set separately and avoid adding cables after the walls are finished.
Kitchen electrics happen in two stages. First fix runs cables and back boxes before plastering and before units go in. Second fix adds sockets, switches and fittings once the units and worktops are in place. We agree timings with your fitter so neither of us holds the other up.
We start with a visit to look at your current wiring and your kitchen plan. We mark socket, switch and appliance positions, check the consumer unit can take the new circuits and give you a free, no-obligation quote for the work.
At first fix we run all new cables and fit back boxes. After plastering and fitting, we return for second fix, connecting sockets, appliances, the cooker and lighting. Every circuit is then tested, and you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate, with any notifiable work registered with building control.
Call or send us a message about the job. We'll get back to you the same day to arrange a visit.
An electrician looks at the work and gives you a free, no-obligation quote before anything starts.
We complete the job, test everything we've worked on and give you the certificate for your records.
It depends on how you use the space, but most kitchens benefit from at least two or three double sockets along the worktop, plus dedicated sockets for built-in appliances. Think about where you'll use the kettle, toaster and chargers. We help you plan positions before work starts.
As early as possible, ideally when the layout is agreed. The electrician is needed for first fix, before plastering and before the units arrive, and again at the end for second fix. Booking early means the wiring is ready at the right stage and doesn't delay your fitter.
The wiring regulations don't set a fixed distance, but sockets should be placed where they won't be splashed. Common guidance is to keep them at least 30cm horizontally from the edge of the sink. We plan positions to keep water and electrics well apart.
New circuits, such as a cooker or appliance circuit, are notifiable under Part P. Adding sockets to an existing circuit usually isn't, though it must still be tested and certified. As an NICEIC registered electrician, we self-certify notifiable work and notify building control for you.
