Emergency lighting testing checks that your emergency lights switch on and run for their full duration if the power fails. We test emergency lighting in buildings across Manchester and keep your logbook up to date.

BS 5266 recommends a short functional test every month, where each light is switched to battery to check it comes on. Once a year, a full duration test runs the lights on battery for their rated time, usually three hours, to prove the batteries still hold their charge.
Every test, fault and repair should be recorded in an emergency lighting logbook. Fire safety officers can ask to see it, and it shows the responsible person is meeting their duties. We fill in the logbook at each visit and note anything that needs attention.
After a full duration test, batteries take up to 24 hours to recharge, so the building has less protection during that time. We plan annual tests for quieter periods, or test in sections, so part of the building is always covered.
We agree a testing schedule with you, either monthly visits, an annual duration test or both. Before the first visit we ask for any existing logbook and drawings, so we can locate every fitting and check nothing has been missed.
On each visit we test every emergency light and exit sign, check for damage or dirty diffusers and record the results. Failed fittings or batteries are noted with a quote to replace them. You receive an updated logbook and a certificate after the annual test.
Call or send us a message about the job. We'll get back to you the same day to arrange a visit.
An electrician looks at the work and gives you a free, no-obligation quote before anything starts.
We complete the job, test everything we've worked on and give you the certificate for your records.
BS 5266 recommends a short functional test every month and a full duration test once a year. Monthly tests can be done by trained staff, while the annual test is usually done by a competent electrician. Every test should be recorded in the logbook.
Yes. We work from 8am to 10pm, Monday to Saturday, so we can often test before you open or in the evening. For the annual duration test, we can also test the building in sections so some lights are always charged while others recover.
We record the failure in the logbook and tell you straight away. Usually the battery or lamp needs replacing, though older fittings may be better replaced completely. We give you a quote for the repair, and once it's fixed, the fitting is retested and recorded.
Yes, though less effort is needed. Self-test fittings run their own monthly and annual tests and show the result on an indicator light. Someone still needs to check the indicators, record the results and arrange repairs when a fitting reports a fault.
