Electric shower installation gives you hot water on demand, heated as it flows. We fit new and replacement electric showers in Manchester homes, with the right circuit and cable for the shower's rating.

Swapping a shower for one with the same power rating is usually straightforward. Fitting a more powerful model, or adding an electric shower where there wasn't one before, often means a new, larger cable and a dedicated circuit from the consumer unit.
Electric showers range from around 7kW to 10.5kW. The higher the rating, the more current the shower draws and the thicker the cable it needs. We check that your existing cable, consumer unit and main fuse can safely handle the shower you've chosen.
Showers need a double-pole isolator switch, usually a pull cord in the bathroom ceiling or a switch outside the room. Bathrooms are split into zones that limit what electrical equipment can go where, and the shower circuit needs RCD protection.
Before quoting, we check the power rating of the shower you want, the cable route to the consumer unit and whether the board has space and suitable protection. If you're replacing an old shower, we check the existing cable is big enough for the new one.
We connect the shower to its circuit, fit the isolator switch and test everything once the plumbing is in place. A new shower circuit is notifiable under Part P, so you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate and we notify building control for you.

Often, but it depends on your existing cable and consumer unit. A higher power shower draws more current, so the cable may need upgrading. We check the circuit before you buy, so you can choose a shower your wiring will run safely.
A like-for-like swap often takes a couple of hours. Fitting a new circuit for a more powerful shower takes longer, usually most of a day, as the cable has to be run from the consumer unit to the bathroom. We'll confirm timings when we quote.
A shower that trips the RCD or breaker may have a fault in the unit, water getting into the connections or an undersized cable. Stop using it and switch it off at the isolator. We test the circuit and the shower to find the cause and recommend a repair or replacement.
A new shower circuit is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. A like-for-like swap on the existing circuit usually isn't, but it must still be tested and certified. As an NICEIC registered electrician, we handle any building control notification for you.
