EICR testing checks the condition of the electrics in your home or rented property and records anything unsafe. We carry out EICRs across Manchester for homeowners, buyers and landlords, with free quotes.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report looks at your consumer unit, wiring, sockets, switches, light fittings, earthing and bonding. The electrician tests the circuits and inspects the installation, looking for damage, wear, overloading and anything that doesn't meet current safety standards.
Problems are given a code. C1 means danger is present and needs fixing straight away, C2 means potentially dangerous, and C3 means improvement is recommended. FI means further investigation is needed. A report with any C1, C2 or FI is unsatisfactory until the work is done.
Private landlords in England must have a satisfactory EICR at least every 5 years and give a copy to their tenants. Homeowners are usually advised to test every 10 years, and it's worth getting one when you buy a property or before major work.
When you book, we ask about the size of the property, the age of the wiring and how many circuits there are, so we can estimate how long testing will take. Clear access to the consumer unit, sockets and loft helps the visit run smoothly.
During the test, power is switched off for short periods while each circuit is checked. Afterwards you receive the report with any codes explained in plain English. If remedial work is needed, we give you a free quote, and once it's done we issue the paperwork to show it's been fixed.
Call or send us a message about the job. We'll get back to you the same day to arrange a visit.
An electrician looks at the work and gives you a free, no-obligation quote before anything starts.
We complete the job, test everything we've worked on and give you the certificate for your records.
The price depends on the size of the property and how many circuits it has. A one-bedroom flat takes less time than a large house or a property split into several units. Tell us about the property and we'll give you a free, no-obligation quote before booking.
Most homes take between two and four hours, depending on the number of circuits and how easy it is to reach sockets and fittings. Larger houses and HMOs can take longer. The power will be off for short periods, so we'll let you know what to expect beforehand.
If the report is unsatisfactory, the remedial work must be done within 28 days, or sooner if the report says so. Once the repairs are complete, the landlord needs written confirmation from the electrician. We can carry out the repairs and provide that confirmation for you.
It isn't a legal requirement for buyers, but it's a sensible check, especially in older homes. A standard survey doesn't test the electrics, so an EICR tells you whether the wiring is safe and if any work is needed. That can help you budget or negotiate before you complete.
